Oh, the delights that await

We had Miss N-12's, Year 7 orientation evening last night and it was exciting and scary in equal measure. One of the teachers (whom Miss N tells me is the coolest teacher at the school) presented "Teens and Those Who Love Them - The Transition". She warned us of the mood swings, laziness, boundary pushing, emotional detachment and other special delights of teenage girls. She also had a couple of uplifting and encouraging things to say, but I don't actually remember what they were. Her final comment was "There is strength in unity - you parents need to stick together!".

Miss N's school starts at Kindergarten and goes through to Year 12, so the parents already know each other pretty well. However, after that presentation we all made a point of re-introducing ourselves - to familiarise yourself with your comrades in arms is essential battlefield protocol!

This little gem from youTube was played as an example of how NOT to speak to your teenage daughter. So cruel, I now have to go and re-think my entire daily dialogue.
