Clarins is a bit of a stigmatised brand, unlike Clinique which seems to routinely garner the interest of teens to their 3 step program - Clarins is left for the more mature lady as youthful skins frown and roll by their stands. A shame. Granted, I did it too but time waits for no one and if it weren't for my occasional tests in my mothers' beauty bag and random testers here or there, I probably would forever frown at the brand longer than I should.
Now, what I have tried from the brand I honestly really liked. Be it the fine lines day cream or their exfoliator, everything always seems very nice and I'm always eager to find out the price of the full size but, when I found out certain products are in a jar (face creams) I do get turned off. Recently I decided to test out a reduced gift set (slightly under £15) and find out how their formulas fare and if it's worth investing in this obscure fuddy-duddy French brand after all.
Here are my thoughts ...
Natural Lip Perfector in 01 Rose Shimmer (5ml/0.15oz)
At first, the colour of the product packaging really scared me - pale bright pink - is just not this dark gals thing. So, using my smarts I checked out all the products first that was in the box with the makeup stand in-store, and I realised this product was very sheer. It's such a pretty shade and it smells gorgeous. Some may not like the sponge tip applicator but, I do. It's not sticky or overly glossy - it's like a balmy lip gloss. Those who are into natural easy makeup will like the look and feel of this product.

Lip Comfort Oil in 01 Honey (2,8ml/0.09oz)
This is like a lip gloss for women who don't like "gloss" or think its too juvenile. I really love how this feels on the lips and it looks great too plus, it smells good (very light honey). If you hate sticky glosses and want something smooth and beautiful this is a great buy. The only downside might be the normal size has a huge wand and may get messy by taking out too much product (less precision) and be overwhelming if you have thinner lips. Since purchasing this I have worn this often and it lasts pretty long (a couple of hours) without any gunk or crispiness occurring.

Water Lip Stain in 03 Red Water (2,8ml/0.09oz.)
The tester scared me. This is a really bright reddish-pink that truly stains your lips. Great if you're committed to having a reddened pout but no so great if you're just messing around. Lighter skin tones will need to make sure not to splash this outside their mouth too much as the stain truly lasts. Smells like a watery strawberry berry which is light and nice. I haven't worn it out yet but I have tried it, wiped it off, applied a gloss and still had the stain peaking underneath so it is nice to wear with other products and very potent indeed.

Joli Rouge Velvet 742 (1,5g/0.05oz)
I'm actually very embarrassed about this product. Inwardly, I'd like to think that I am the queen of lipstick and that I know pretty much most things in the lipstick game (*cough* arrogant much?) - be it indie brands, or high-end wares but alas, I have to admit when I have been proved wrong - as I didn't know about this. This lipstick is so beautiful, the colour is so rich, the feel is moisturising and its matte. Plus, it's not that expensive. I apologise that I haven't tried it before and told you about it. It does stain so if that concerns you, no need to worry as there are a plethora of shades. The packaging is also very pretty and in comparison to other premium brand products one of the nicer ones. I've been tempted to buy a full size but, I decided I'd finish this first before I do. This was true love at first swipe.

Summed Up Thoughts: I love everything and I'll be incorporating it all in my makeup routines this year. From now on, I definitely have my eyes on Clarins and I suggest you do too.
